Welcome to
The Weatherford Mountain Bike Club

An organization of citizen volunteers dedicated to
building sustainable, multi-use trails.

Our mission is to establish guidelines and a framework for cooperation between the Weatherford Mountain Bike Club (WMBC), the City of Weatherford and Parker County regional land managers to collectively work together to build, maintain and manage multi-use nature trails  for the benefit of the off-road bicycling, trail running and hiking communities of North Texas.

eBike Policy Change for WMBC Trails

The City of Weatherford has changed their Park Ordinance to allow Class 1 eBikes on our local trails.  Class 1 eBikes are pedal assist only (they have no throttle) and top out at 20 mph.  The WMBC Rules of the Trail have been updated to reflect this change.

Parks of Aledo Lakes Trail Now Open

Weatherford Mountain Bike Club (WMBC) would like to announce the opening of an additional 2.35-miles of new singletrack trail at the Parks of Aledo Trails (POA Trails).  The new trail called, the POA Lakes Trail, begins at the Jenkins Road trailhead located at 1700 Jenkins Road, Aledo, Texas 76008.

The POA Lakes Trail meanders counterclockwise from the trailhead along Shadow Creek, two small lakes, through a wooded highland overlooking the lakes and the formal parks of the residential neighborhood.  20 signs along the trail provide notices and reminders. The POA Lakes Trail crosses Blackbird Drive before connecting with the existing Gray Trail of the POA Prairie Trails. The trail markers for the POA Lakes Trail are purple.

Please see the Trails page for the new map and trail description.

New Trail, New Parking at POA

The Weatherford Mountain Bike Club (WMBC), an IMBA Local Chapter is happy to announce that the new parking facility to serve the Parks of Aledo Trails (POA Trails) is open. The parking lot is located at 1700 Jenkins Road (approximately 300’ west of Bailey Ranch Road on the north side of the road). The new parking area will serve as the primary trailhead for the POA Trails. Parking along Point Vista Drive will be prohibited. Additionally, an extension to the Parks of Aledo Trails called The POA Bluffs Trail is open! The Bluffs is an approximately 3.7 mile addition to the 6.1 mile POA Trails. Collectively, the POA Trails network is now just under a 10-mile loop.

Tales of the Trails

Mountain Bike trails don't spontaneously appear - it takes coordination between bike advocates, land managers, communities and other stakeholders to bring them from concept to reality.  The links below will take you to articles about the origins of our four local trails.
